Chantelle Smith

Welcome to the website of Wiltshire-based folk singer, Chantelle Smith.

“Chantelle Smith provided us with a magical evening on 22nd June, where her love of ballad singing and traditional folk songs shone through the whole performance. Chantelle delighted us with a few of the tracks from her brand new EP, The Gates of Elfinland, along with a number of songs from her Ballads in The Borders and Beyond project. We particularly enjoyed the tragic love ballad Fair Helen of Kirkconnel, especially after Chantelle described how poignant she’d found performing the song in the very churchyard where Helen and her lover lay in rest. We were also treated to a couple of songs accompanied on the harp, which were sublime. Chantelle’s enthusiasm and joy to be sharing her songs with us was contagious, and we all had a great evening joining in with choruses and tapping our feet, and occasionally wiping away a tear. Thank you, Chantelle! A wonderful evening.” – Swindon Folk Club, June 2018
